Dont get frustrated when your dog does not do what you want him to do. Sometimes it comes down to patience to win with the dog.
I am currently training an adult GSD who is very intelligent and eager to please with the exception of laying down. He will heel all through down without a leash, sit at every intersection speed up slow down with my pace. I have this dog for 3 weeks and he is just now laying down on voice and hand commands. I have never had this particular situation with another dog before.
The main thing was not to show any anger or frustration when training they (the dogs) pick up on our attitude and causes them to regect what we want them to do.
